According to Sky Sports, Leicester City have agreed a £10 million fee for Liverpool, goalkeeper Danny Ward. The 25-year-old has been with Liverpool since 2012 when he made the switch from boyhood club Wrexham, although in that time, he s spent the majority of his career out on loan. Now, though, it seems as if the Foxes see him as potential competition for Kasper Schmeichel as opposed to a direct replacement, despite what many recent reports are suggesting.
Ward is set to take part in a medical in the next few days, which will also involve him agreeing to personal terms. After so many years of fading into the background with the Reds, it ll be interesting to see what he ll be able to do when offered a complete change of pace.

Arsene Wenger has urged focus from his Arsenal players ahead of their opening Champions League group game at Dinamo Zagreb.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich loom on the horizon for Arsenal in Group F, but Wenger – who begins an 18th successive season in Europe s premier club competition – is keen to avoid any slip-ups against Dinamo and Olympiacos before that mouthwatering October 20 showdown.
It is important we go to Zagreb highly focused and conscious at what is at stake there, Wenger told his club s official website. You can be quickly out of the Champions League and we want to start well and we know we have a battle first to qualify with Bayern Munich [in the group].
You need to find the balance between urgency and confidence and at times that is di…
Wife and agent of Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, Wanda, revealed the Nerazzurri striker was subject of intense interest from both Juventus and Napoli.
The highly-rated forward was free to join a foreign club during July for a release clause set to €110 million but ended up staying at Inter Milan despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
And now Wanda moved on to reveal that two of Italy’s biggest clubs, Juventus and Napoli, both harboured the interest in signing the 25-year-old.
In an interview with Tiki Taka, Wanda explains that Juventus looked at Mauro Icardi before Cristiano Ronaldo, adding that she met Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
In the end, it all came down to Mauro Icardi’s decision to remain with the Nerazzurri, according to…
Chelsea have made their first major signing of the transfer window, signing centre-back Antonio Rudiger in a £31million deal from Roma.
The fee sees the Germany international become the seventh most expensive signing in the club s history and marks the highest fee they have paid for a defender. But how have the six players who cost more than him fared?
Their big-money acquisitions have not always gone to plan, so here we take a look at the hits and misses among their six costliest players.
1. Fernando Torres (£50m) MISS
Chelsea s club-record swoop for Torres in January 2011 provoked anger on Merseyside, but Liverpool never really missed him as the Spaniard failed to fire in his four-year spell at Stamford Bridge. Although he scored a pi…

Group D leaders Serbia will only need a point from their clash in Vienna to secure a World Cup berth. Fourth-placed Austria are mathematically still in play for the play-off place but Das Team will have a steep mountain to climb.
Austria
Manager Marcel Koller has endured a torrid time at the national team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying and heading into the final two matches in Group D the 56-year-old tactician is pretty given the opportunity to say farewell due to the fact the OFB will not be extending his contract.
The World Cup qualifying campaign came as quite the contrast to Austria’s undefeated road to Euro 2016. However, Austrians have been going from one disappointment to another and …

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to bid for EFL Cup glory with senior players as he grapples with a selection headache ahead of Tuesday s fourth-round tie against Norwich City.
The Gunners returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion by beating Everton 5-2 on Sunday – a result that saw Ronald Koeman lose his job in charge of the Goodison Park outfit.
Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez started a Premier League game together and all got on the scoresheet, leaving Wenger to marvel at the attacking talent he has at his disposal.
The long-serving manager has previously used the EFL Cup to blood young talent but the depth of his fully fit forward options means Championship side Norwich should be ready to face a strong line-up at Emirates Stadium.…
Morocco snatched a late 1-0 Africa Cup of Nations win after substitute Itamunua Keimuine undid Namibia s stout defensive efforts with a calamitous 89th-minute own goal.
Head coach Herve Renard is chasing a third triumph in the continental showpiece, having prevailed with the Ivory Coast in 2015 – three years after guiding an unfancied Zambia to glory.
But a Morocco side boasting plenty of technical ability and attacking talent struggled to break down a Namibia outfit ranked 113th in the world.
Dire Dawa City striker Keimuine was sent on to chase a famous win for his side but, having fouled Sofiane Boufal on the right flank, he inexplicably powered a header from the same player s free-kick into the turf and in.
Earlier in the contest, Namibia goalkee…
Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent further barbs in Pep Guardiola s direction during a wide-ranging interview with CNN.
Paris Saint-Germain star Ibrahimovic will make a poignant return to his hometown club Malmo when the French champions travel to Sweden for a Champions League match on Wednesday.
Ibrahimovic is likely to be welcomes as a hero having claimed numerous major honours across the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France since leaving his homeland 14 years ago, although he does not reserve similar affection for his former Barcelona boss Guardiola.
The 34-year-old clashed with the current Bayern Munich coach during a one-season spell at Camp Nou in 2009-10 and he described Guardiola as a spineless coward in his autobiography – a view that does not appear to have grea…
